Masonry Door Jamb Anchors

Masonry door jamb anchors.

Continue laying the block and filling the jambs with mortar evenly up both. Wire masonry is the most common anchor used at new masonry walls since the anchor can be resized to match the jamb depth of the frame as needed. 6 5 where possible one jamb should be butted tightly to the wall. The base anchors have holes pre drilled so you can fasten the frame to the floor.

Welded in reverse base anchor install threshold to cover anchor. 6 6 use tapered shims between anchors and wall and spreaders to maintain squareness and alignment of frame and to maintain door opening sizes. They are available for either 1 3 8 35 or 1 3 4 44 thick doors. Figures 6a and 6b both types of wood stud anchors shown are welded to the back of the jamb.

Frame is punch and dimpled 4 dimpled holes per jamb 8 per frame. Figure 5 steel stud 4. Base anchors come as standard in welded type hollow metal frames. Existing masonry anchors are used at openings where the block walls are already up and waiting for the frame to be installed.

Make any necessary adjustments. Wire anchors slide down the jamb throat to be embedded in mortar joints of new masonry construction. These are welded or screwed into the bottom of both jambs. Figure 5 the steel stud anchor welded to the back of the jamb is used on custom frames and meets fire rating requirements.

Furnished with flat head 8 3 8 x 6 masonry sleeve anchors or flat head 8 3 8 x 5 wood lag screws. Wood stud straps welded on each side of the throat anchor to wood studs in the opening wall. These anchors are often referred to as punch dimple frame anchors. Frames are installed after a majority of the studs are in place but before the gypsum wall board has been installed.

At the next course or approximately 72 from the floor lay in another anchor on the hinge and strike jambs. 6 3 1 frames may also be supplied with anchors welded in place. In new block walls the frame is fastened to the floor at the base anchors and either wire masonry anchors or t anchors are used. Again check the frame to be sure it is plumb level and square.

Hollow metal door frames in a masonry wall are installed with the masonry.
