Marble Dust Acrylic Paint

Fredrix powdered marble dust can be used to make acrylic modeling paste glue base gesso and all water and oil dispersed paints.

Marble dust is calcium carbonate dust used in painting. When you re satisfied allow the paint to dry for several hours. Use a dry blending brush to smooth out the fine veins. Marble dust is also used in making gesso though it tends to be a harder and not as white as the french chalk.

Fredrix is a registered trademark. It is in fact just an acrylic paint primer that has no gypsum or plaster in it at all. Add a small amount of marble dust to start with. Alternatively you may find it easier to mix the paint and dust on a palette if you are working with a very small amount.

Sponging white back into the marble pattern is a secret weapon. Acrylic gesso uses marble dust as one of the primary components. It is used as an ingredient in venetian and marmorino plaster. Some artists use the dust to harden surfaces for oil pastels.

Blend out fine veins. The most common use for marble dust in painting is creating traditional rabbit skin glue gesso a surface primer for paintings. Add the amount of acrylic paint you intend to use into the small bucket or cup. It is made from ph neutral basic calcium carbonate.

Acrylic gesso very often has the addition of marble dust as an additive to make it slightly denser. Mix these materials well with your paintbrush or palette knife. Molding pastes are meant to be used sculpturally for creating heavy textures and three dimensional surfaces. It to can be used as a filler for paints or in the manufacture of soft pastels.

Repeat this step at least two times and add in some white veins to create highlighted areas. How to draw marble. In addition to creating a painting primer you can also mix marble dust directly into your paints to create interesting textures and to fill your paints with body. Molding pastes are extra thick opaque pastes made with actual marble dust and acrylic polymer emulsion.
